Elliot was an inpatient at Alder Hey and Barrie very kindly invited him and me to experience Box 4 Kids. Elliot's reaction to being invited was pure delight... and in a VIP Box! He was so impressed. Ryan is mad on football and especially Liverpool, so when I told him he couldn't believe it. We were thrilled to be asked. It is hard to think that people you don’t know want to help and be so kind. Box 4 Kids was a big example of this. We were made to feel so special, having a day we would never usually be able to have.
"The Athletes Schools Scheme is a brilliant way to engage young people in the 2012 London Olympics and to inspire them through the values of sport. The scheme is very unique as it gives school children the opportunity to step into the life of an Olympic athlete and gives teachers the chance to use this to promote many educational values."

"…I know this is an experience the students will never forget. It is a fantastic opportunity for schools to become involved with their local elite athletes and build on the excitement of the upcoming 2012 Olympic Games"

"I think it's a fantastic gesture from Barrie. These kids have probably been deprived of an awful lot of things that people take for granted and for them to come along, come upstairs, sit in comfort, have a bit of food, come out and watch the game, watch Liverpool win hopefully, then I'm sure it will be a dream come true for them and it will be something they will talk about for a long, long time."
